Responsibilities

• Responsible for the smooth running of operations in their department.
• Exercises leadership that enables the empowerment, engagement, and efficiency of the kitchen team.
• Motivates employees to achieve performance goals and Sesame standards.
• Manages the staffing process (recruitment, hiring, and integration) for kitchen employees.
• Trains new employees.
• Monitors the performance of employees.
• Prepares the work schedule within deadlines.
• Ensures adherence to work schedules.
• Effectively plans their own and employees' time.
• Manages inventories and stocks replenishment.
• Ensures rotation of orders.
• Teaches and ensures compliance with hygiene, sanitation standards, and health and safety rules.
• Conducts quality control of dishes.
• Ensures compliance with profitability ratios (food costs, labor costs).
• Ensures compliance with Sesame policies and regulations by employees.
• Takes necessary disciplinary measures when applicable.
• Checks compliance, cleanliness, and proper order of workplaces.
• Develops, implements, and monitors action plans.

Requirements

• Proficiency in French (spoken and written).
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) – if applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in the restaurant industry.
• Results-oriented.
• Meticulous.
• Autonomous.
• Skilled in interpersonal communication.
• Demonstrates leadership.
• Proficient in using technologies (office suite, tablet, and computers).
• Able to manage priorities.
• Good physical condition.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Safely handles kitchen equipment (knives, fryers, etc.).
• Knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, health, and safety standards.

Skills acquired after hiring

• Knowledge of Sesame presentation standards and norms.
• Knowledge of the recipe book.
• Knowledge of food portioning procedures.
• Knowledge of the cleaning list, cleaning products, and their usage procedures.

Work Environment Must be able to work standing for the majority of the shift and sometimes sitting. Must be able to lift heavy loads and work in a hot environment for long periods. Must handle high stress levels depending on the time of year. Must be available at all times.
